چکیده
Abstract The main danger of a brain aneurysm (a sack-like bulge on the vessel wall) is that in event rupture severe hemorrhage can occur which may cause death. However, if doctors have tools at their disposal, such as numerical models and simulations for analyzing patient-specific blood vessels, they could use them to decide particular treatment necessary so, when. For models, different mechanical characteristics flow control devices are input data. Several these properties devices, modulus elasticity tensile strength, determined by testing. In course our research, we developed clamping device suitable uniaxial testing diverter stents.

Flow diverter stents in the treatment of intracranial aneurysms: Where are we?
Flow diverter stents are devices designed to treat complex aneurysms. According to preliminary series published in the literature, treatment of aneurysms with flow diverters is highly efficacious with acceptable morbidity and mortality. Delayed aneurysm ruptures have been reported but mechanisms are actually not completely elucidated. In-stent thrombosis or stenosis was also observed. Indicatio...
متن کاملFlow-Diverter Stent for the Endovascular Treatment of Intracranial Aneurysms
Background and Purpose—The purpose of this study is to report our preliminary experience with the flow-diverter Silk stent for the endovascular treatment of intracranial aneurysms. Methods—This prospective study was approved by the authors’ ethical committees. Twenty-nine patients with 34 fusiform or wide-necked unruptured aneurysms were included and treated by Silk stent placement alone by 2 p...
متن کاملSafety and efficacy of flow-diverter stents in endovascular treatment of intracranial aneurysm: interest of the prospective DIVERSION observational study.
Endovascular treatment using detachable coils is now a well-established technique for intracranial aneurysms (IA) occlusion following the publication of the results of the International Subarachnoid Aneurysm Trial (ISAT) [1]. However, the treatment of large or giant IA remains challenging with low initial angiographic occlusion rates [2] and high rates of recanalization [2—4]. In this situation...
متن کاملThe ‘Sphere’: A Dedicated Bifurcation Aneurysm Flow-Diverter Device
We present flow-based results from the early stage design cycle, based on computational modeling, of a prototype flow-diverter device, known as the 'Sphere', intended to treat bifurcation aneurysms of the cerebral vasculature. The device is available in a range of diameters and geometries and is constructed from a single loop of NITINOL® wire. The 'Sphere' reduces aneurysm inflow by means of a ...
متن کاملCompacting a Single Flow Diverter versus Overlapping Flow Diverters for Intracranial Aneurysms: A Computational Study.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Locally compacting the mesh of a flow diverter by a dynamic push-pull technique can accelerate intracranial aneurysm healing. We asked how this deployment strategy compares with overlapping 2 flow diverters for aneurysmal flow reduction. MATERIALS AND METHODS Using a high-fidelity virtual stent placement method, we simulated 3 flow-diverter strategies (single noncompact...
